A Sad Announcement...

After 32 years in business, we are very sad to announce that we are officially closed.

Many of our customers were already aware that Dave, the owner and truly the heart and soul of Edelweiss, has been battling cancer. He has not been able to work for well over a year and his absence was sorely felt. His two sons, who put their own plans on hold, along with some very special members of the staff, had been doing their best to hold down the fort in anticipation of Dave’s return. Unfortunately, that was not meant to be. We were hoping we would find someone to take over the business and keep alive one of the last authentic German delicatessens, but that was also not meant to be.

Dave and his family are sincerely grateful for each and every customer that has walked through our door, many of whom became good friends. Whether it was a Sunday morning breakfast for the family, a sandwich for your lunch break, a catered Oktoberfest party, or a bratwurst on Kings Park Day, it has been an absolute honor and a joy to serve the Kings Park community. We will miss this huge chapter of our lives and all the people we have shared it with.

The Hennings family would also like to thank all those who have reached out with messages of kindness and support during this difficult time. Dave has put up a long and brave fight. We are heartbroken that this is not a fight he will win. If anyone would like to send Dave a message or share an Edelweiss memory, please feel free to contact us through our business email address or our Facebook page.

Alles Gute & Auf Wiedersehen!

(Best wishes & Goodbye, or “until we meet again”)

We can still be reached at [email protected] or on Facebook. Thank you!
