ABOUT EDELWEISS DELICATESSEN

Our philosophy...

We are one of the few remaining traditional German delicatessens, which means delicious quality food freshly

made on premises with our own time-honored recipes, and individual service with a smile and attention to detail.

It's a standard we've upheld for more than thirty years. At Edelweiss, we strive to give you the total experience

of food made exactly to order, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

What we offer...

We are a full service delicatessen, providing the finest quality cold cuts. We carry primarily Boars Head

brand, but also a selection of German cold cuts from Forest Pork Store of Huntington, Schaller & Weber and

Karl Ehmer. We make our own salads, hot entrees and sides, desserts and baked goods, soups (seasonally),

and individual homemade frozen dinners.

We offer our own Signature Sandwiches, which we are happy to customize any way you like, or we can make a sandwich of entirely your own creation. We serve breakfast until 2:00pm (subject to change on holidays). Our egg sandwiches are particularly popular and always cooked fresh when ordered.

We have a wide selection of imported German foodstuffs and beers, including some of our favorite German cookbooks.

We are experts at catering food for any occasion, from a small gathering, or even just a side dish or two,

to large parties (generally up to 100 people). We offer party heroes, platters, appetizers, cold buffets, and hot entrees,

all fully customizable to your needs. We do our best to accommodate special orders and requests.

We are famous for our homemade Sauerbraten!

Available for catering, in our homemade frozen dinners, and occasionally over-the-counter.

Stop in for a visit to fully appreciate all we have to offer!

Our history...

David Hennings is the owner and co-founder of Edelweiss Delicatessen.

He is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, College of Culinary Arts.

Edelweiss Delicatessen has roots going back to the 1950's, when David's parents emigrated from Germany

and opened their first deli in Queens. There are delis in Huntington, Commack and Westhampton still operating today that were originally founded by his parents. Dave has been involved in the family business ever since he tried collecting a 25-cent parking fee at his parents store when he was five years old. He had to give up his little enterprise when a customer turned him in to mom and dad, but he quickly found other ways to help his parents.

After graduating from culinary school, Dave briefly worked for Marriott Hotels and Pumpernickel's Restaurant.

In 1990, Dave opened Edelweiss in partnership with his sister, later partnered with his brother, and currently runs Edelweiss with his wife, Monique. Both their sons, Erik and Kirk, help out at the store too.

The Hennings family has proudly called Kings Park home since 1995.
